Newcastle United recorded a comfortable win against Burnley in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
Tony Pulis has honestly stated that he can’t see Newcastle United getting relegated this season following their 2-0 win over Burnley on Tuesday night.
Rafa Benitez’s side picked up all three points at St James’ Park, with Fabian Schar scoring a stunning strike early in the first half before academy graduate Sean Longstaff doubled his side’s lead before the break.
Those two goals were enough for Newcastle to stroll to victory as the away side failed to get any rhythm going despite coming into the match in a rich vein of form.
Speaking to 5 Live Sport on BBC Radio (26/02/2019 at 10:10 pm), Middlesbrough manager Pulis shared his honest views on the north-east club.
“I think this time last year, Newcastle before going into this game were actually in exactly the same place,” Pulis told BBC Radio 5 Live. “They then ended up finishing 10th. What’s in front of them and picking up points in every game if you possibly can.
“They showed tonight that they’ve got real spirit. They are very well organised. They will be fine and I am sure Burnley will as well. These two clubs I can’t see going down.”
At this moment in time, the Magpies are seven points clear of safety and they are unbeaten in their last three league matches.
Newcastle supporters will start to have memories of last season when they finished off the campaign in a positive fashion and, as a result, secured a top 10 finish.
If they achieve that feat again then it will prove that Benitez is doing a remarkable job at the club despite little investment in his squad.
