West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has paid credit to the performance of new signing Brendan Galloway, in quotes appearing in the Express and Star, after the 20-year-old made his debut for the Baggies just a day after moving to the club on loan from Everton.
Though both manager and player will have wished for a better result from the fullback’s first fixture, with West Brom crashing out of the League Cup on penalties to League One side Northampton Town, the Welshman still had plenty of positive things to say about the defender, who was withdrawn with an injury when the Baggies were 2-1 up.
“Obviously we’ve been looking for a left back for a long time,” Pulis admitted in the Express and Star after the game.
“He’s got a lot of good attributes, he needs to work hard on certain things, we understand that. But he’s got great legs and he wants to get forward and couple of times he was past the winger and getting crosses in.”

Pulis and West Brom have been involved in a long drawn out pursuit of Leicester City wide man Jeffrey Schlupp for much of the summer, and has reportedly seen a number of bids turned down for the Ghanian international, despite the player’s interest in making the move (Mail).
Whether the Ghana international eventually ends up at the Hawthorns or not, the Baggies boss was smart to bring in an alternative of real promise in Galloway, and he added that he hoped the youngster’s injury wasn’t serious ahead of this weekend’s match against Middlesbrough, after being forced to hand 16-year-old Kane Wilson a debut against the Cobblers.
“We’re hoping it’s just cramp,” Pulis said of Galloway. “Sam (Field) went down with cramp as well. They’re young lads, they’re not used to the tempo and pace of these games.”
