Sheffield Wednesday have no agreement in place with West Bromwich Albion, but Tony Pulis is still willing to speak to them first.

Tony Pulis has confirmed that, despite not having any arrangement in place, he intends to speak to Sheffield Wednesday first as he looks to shift Callum McManaman off the West Brom books this summer, the Birmingham Mail reports.

McManaman – who cost West Brom £4.75 million (via Mail) – spent the latter half of this past season on loan at Hillsborough having previously struggled to make any kind of impact under Pulis at the Hawthorns.

The Mail reports that the Baggies are making getting rid of the winger – who has one year left on his deal – a priority for the early stages of the summer.

And Pulis has suggested that he plans to speak to the Owls first about whether they would be interested in taking the 26-year-old on a permanent basis, despite the fact that the initial agreement between the two clubs did not involve a first refusal clause.

“I’ll be talking to people at Sheffield Wednesday this week now they’re out of the play offs,” he said, as reported by the Mail.

“That was a big disappointment for them.

“I’d rather talk to the club first and see where they sit.

“They have a first option to buy him if they want.”

Given that the former Wigan man struggled to hold down a place in Carlos Carvalhal’s side during their push for promotion in the Championship this past season, it would hardly be a surprise if Wednesday are hesitant about buying the winger.

However, with Pulis seemingly making no secrets about the fact that he wants to move him on during this window, there may be scope for the Owls to pull off a much more favourable deal for a player who arguably has the potential to make a significant impact in the second tier.
