West Bromwich Albion won 1-0 against Bournemouth in their opening Premier League match.
Rondon was left out of West Brom’s starting line-up, with new signing Jay Rodriguez leading the line.
Rondon was said to have shown his frustrations at full-time, by throwing his shirt of the floor in the tunnel.
And although Pulis didn’t see the incident, he admits that the Venezuelan target-man was gutted to have missed out.
He said: “He was most probably disappointed he never started.
“I didn’t see him throw his shirt. We’ve got competition there now which is good. I hope it helps him in the long run, it usually does.”
Pulis will feel that his decision to leave Rondon out was justified, as West Brom picked up a victory in their opening match.
Rodriguez was very bright, as the Baggies secured a 1-0 triumph over Bournemouth.
West Brom scored their goal through new defender Ahmed Hegazi, and limited Bournemouth to half-chances.
The Baggies’ next match comes against Burnley, who conquered Chelsea on opening day, in a week’s time.
