Roberto Firmino played well for Liverpool against Newcastle United at the weekend.
The former Stoke City and Crystal Palace manager was impressed with the display produced by Firmino during Liverpool’s Premier League game against Newcastle United at the weekend.
The 27-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a forward, changed the game after he came on as a substitute and was a key figure in the Reds’ win.
Pulis said about Firmino on Goals on Sunday on Sky Sports Premier League (11:53am, September 15, 2019): “The substitution actually changed the game. I thought Newcastle were well set up. They looked pretty solid and then he comes on.
“He’s done fantastic. He’s got better every year he’s been in this country for Liverpool. He knits it all together – that’s the great thing.
“Mane and Salah will get the praise for the goals but the kid there in the middle of the pitch actually knits it all, he brings everything together for Liverpool. He’s a top, top player.”
World-class footballer
Firmino – who joined Liverpool back in the summer of 2015 when Brendan Rodgers was in charge of the Reds – is one of the best players in the Premier League and is a world-class footballer.
The Brazil international scores goals and creates chances for his teammates, and he works perfectly with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the Liverpool attack.
According to WhoScored, Firmino has scored two goals and provided three assists in five Premier League appearances so far this season, and scored 12 goals and provided six assists in the league in 2018-19.
Meanwhile, teenage striker Rhian Brewster has been included in the Liverpool squad for their Champions League game against Napoli this week due to the injury suffered by Divock Origi at the weekend.
