Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has suggested to The Birmingham Mail that West Bromwich Albion fans were anxious during the match at the weekend.

Rovers played out a 1-1 draw with West Brom away from home at The Hawthorns in the Championship this past Saturday afternoon.

It was the first time that Mowbray returned to The Hawthorns following his departure from the Baggies for Celtic in the summer of 2009.

The 54-year-old, was in charge of West Brom from 2006 until 2009, has suggested that the Baggies fans were anxious this past Saturday during the 1-1 draw.

Mowbray told The Birmingham Mail: “I understand after the defeats to Wigan and Derby, it was a fantastic time to play West Brom because they would have been delicate.

“You could feel it a little bit. The supporters were anxious with the goal kicks, are they playing out?

“We tried to feed off that really, that was always the plan and people will always try to feed off that anxiety.”

Dip in form

West Brom remain one of the favourites for promotion to the Premier League, but the Baggies’ recent form has not been great.

Darren Moore’s side’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn followed defeats to Wigan Athletic and Derby County in the Championship.

The Baggies need to start winning matches, starting with the game against Hull City away from home in the Championship this coming Saturday.
