Leeds United moved back into the automatic places on Tuesday night when they beat Preston North End.

Sky Sports pundit Tony Gale has claimed that Ezgjan Alioski wasn’t at his best during Leeds United’s 2-0 win over Preston North End on Tuesday night.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side moved back into the automatic places with those three points as they bounced back in fine fashion at Deepdale following their defeat at Birmingham City over the weekend.
Striker Patrick Bamford netted a brace for his side, including a thunderous strike from outside of the area, with Preston midfielder Ben Pearson seeing red just after the break.
Speaking during his commentary stint on Sky Sports (10/04/2019 at 94th min), former West Ham man Gale spoke about Alioski’s quiet night on the road.
“He had a quiet game Alioski,” Gale told Sky Sports. “He hasn’t really been on the best of his form, not a lot come down his side of the pitch. I think Ayling has been involved more in that right-back role. But some nights, it isn’t your night and as long as the team are performing.”
Alioski, who is a natural attack-minded midfielder, has been deployed in a left-back role by his manager this season because of the injuries and lack of form to summer signing Barry Douglas.

As a result, he has been a regular in the team, playing 41 league matches for his side, scoring seven goals and supplying his teammates with five assists [transfermarkt].
Nonetheless, Bielsa’s side will now wait to see if they go into their weekend clash in the automatic places because Sheffield United can go above them if they beat Birmingham City on Wednesday night.
