Rangers were beaten 2-1 against the Lilywhites, despite managing to match the hosts for much of the match.
And Fernandes was pleased to see QPR competing so well in the game, even if they didn’t get the three points.
QPR actually took the lead in the match when Lomana LuaLua found the back of the net with a stylish finish.
However, Preston hit back to take the three points. First Aiden McGeady curled in a screamer from long-range, before Jordan Hugill powered the ball home from a corner kick.
QPR are now in 16th place in the Championship table, but they still have a comfortable cushion away from the relegation places.
QPR are next in action on Saturday, when they take on Cardiff City at Loftus Road, looking to return to winning ways.
