Queens Park Rangers failed to return to winning ways in the Championship in midweek. Rangers headed into the match against Newcastle United on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Burton Albion at Loftus Road and did not manage to pick up all three points.

The London outfit played out a 2-2 draw with Newcastle away from home at St. James’ Park on Wednesday evening. Ciaran Clark’s own goal in the 90th minute of the encounter saw QPR rescue a point.

Striker Conor Washington scored for Rangers in the 44th minute, while goalkeeper Alex Smithies made as many as seven saves over the course of the 90 minutes. QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has praised the duo on Twitter for their displays against Newcastle.


QPR are 18th in the Championship table at the moment with 34 points from 29 matches. Ian Holloway’s side are nine points clear of the relegation zone and 12 points behind sixth-placed Derby County. Rangers will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Blackburn Rovers away from home at Ewood Park in the Championship.
