Leeds United were devastating on Saturday against Burton.
If Leeds United weren’t genuine promotion contenders before this weekend, they certainly are now.
Leeds, under Thomas Christiansen, offered a ruthless demonstration of their credentials with a 5-0 drubbing of Burton Albion at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
In doing so, the Whites move second in the Championship, two points behind Cardiff City, and extended their unbeaten start to the campaign – four wins, two draws.
Christiansen’s side – who have scored 21 goals and conceded just four in all competitions – certainly look like the real deal and former Leeds man Tony Dorigo agrees.
However, Dorigo stressed the importance of keeping calm amid the inevitable exictement from the fanbase, but admitted that there are plenty of reasons to be cheerful when asked on Twitter if United – absent from the Premier League since 2004 – are going up.
Under Garry Monk, the Whites somehow failed to finish in the top six when a playoff spot looked certain, but won only one of their last eight Championship outings.
And such disappointment can aid the current crop of Leeds stars – many of whom were not there last season – and spur them on this season, but there’s a long way to go.
