Jack Clarke impressed for Leeds United on Thursday.
Tony Dorigo has told LUTV he believes that Jack Clarke could be in contention to break into Leeds United’s first-team squad this season.
The 17-year-old enhanced his reputation with a glittering performance in Leeds’ 4-3 win over Guiseley on Thursday night, scoring the Whites’ second goal of the evening.
The teenage winger, one of United’s stand-out players in the club’s Under-23 set-up last season, also scored in the 4-3 defeat by Oxford United earlier this week.
And the youngster has courted praise from club legend Tony Dorigo, who reckons that he has the potential to ask serious questions of first-team coach Marcelo Bielsa.
He told LUTV: “Jack Clarke I thought played well again. I do like the look of him. I thought he was great on the ball, balanced and looked a danger all evening long.
“Jamie Shackleton did well but certainly Clarke, he is the one. How many players can make something happen and go past a full back? Still young but certainly one for the future and I think he’ll be in and around that first-team squad.”
Leeds kick off their Championship campaign with the visit of Stoke City to Elland Road on Sunday week.
With respect to Clarke, fans of the West Yorkshire side might not be all that impressed if Bielsa names him in the first XI.
As much as the Leeds faithful love to see one of their own blossoming in the first team, it’s imperative that United get their season off to a good start, so Bielsa must play the percentages and go with experienced options against the Potters.
