Former Leeds United defender Tony Dorigo speaks highly of Whites’ chairman Andrea Radrizzani, and gives his take on the Italian businessman’s previous comments about Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Tony Dorigo has told Betstars that Andrea Radrizzani has been great for Leeds United.
Radrizzani completed his takeover of Leeds from Massimo Cellino in the summer of 2017.
Former Leeds defender Dorigo, who was on the books of the Whites from 1991 until 1997 and won the Football League First Division with the Elland Road outfit back in 1991-92, has praised the Italian businessman.
The 52-year-old has also given his take on Radrizzani’s comments about the link between Wolverhampton Wanderers and ‘super agent’ Jorge Mendes on social networking site Twitter back in March 2018.
Dorigo told Betstars: “I think the owner Andrea Radrizzani has been great for the club, he’s certainly got the club at heart. He’s learning as well.
“This time we do have more solid foundations to build on and I think that’s been the problem for the past owners.”
“I think what Andrea [Radrizzani] wants to understand is what you can and can’t do and see what’s open to him and see what his plans are,” added Dorigo.
“I think the problem was the timing and of course Wolves are flying high at the top and Leeds are obviously mid-table and when you get beaten by Wolves I think that probably puts a slant on it. But I can certainly see why Andrea asked the question.”
Important summer
Leeds started the 2017-18 season strongly, but the Whites faded away from December and ended up 13th in the Championship table.
What the West Yorkshire outfit need to do is make a proper plan this summer, sign the right players, and then aim for promotion next season.
If the Whites are able to hold onto their best players and make some key signings in the summer transfer window, then they will be ready to go again next season.
