Leeds suffered a 2-1 loss to Blackburn at Ewood Park on Saturday.
Tony Dorigo has told Leeds United’s official website that Marcelo Bielsa’s side lack the ability to adapt to an opposition’s tactics when playing at Elland Road.
Leeds suffered a 2-1 loss to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon at Ewood Park, despite Mateusz Klich scoring his fifth goal of the season for the Whites with a close-range finish.
Bielsa’s men have dropped to fourth in the table but remain only two points behind first-placed Middlesbrough who currently sit on 25 points. Sheffield United are in second on 25, while West Brom are in third on 24.
Former Leeds and England ace Dorigo looked ahead to his old side’s next two games, which both come at Elland Road in the space of four days against Ipswich and Nottingham Forest – and he identified where Leeds are lacking.
“We need to make sure it is a fortress at Elland Road,” Dorigo said. “In my time, playing at home made it feel like you were a goal ahead before you went out on the pitch. Getting results at home is vital.
“There are many styles to play against, and you need to pick the lock. Teams play 4-5-1, or man mark Samu Saiz. We need to combat that, and at times we have lacked that ability to overcome opposition tactics.”
Leeds’ form at home started well, winning their first three matches but a loss to Preston in the Carabao Cup at home has seen the Whites take a turn for the worse in front of their own fans.
Since then, Leeds have picked up just five points from a possible 12 at home, including a loss to Birmingham and draws with Boro and Brentford. Bielsa will be hoping to do a lot better against struggling Ipswich on Wednesday.
