Tony Dorigo has heaped praise on Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich on LUTV for overcoming his dip in form to score a brace and help the Whites earn a narrow 2-1 win over Rotherham United.
The 27-year-old central midfielder had scored five goals in his opening 13 Championship fixtures, but had failed to find the back of the net in the following 15 league games. He has started every single league match this season.
However, in his 29th league appearance of the season, 15-time Poland international Klich scored a superb brace to remind fans what he is all about – helping the Whites come from behind to beat Rotherham at the New York Stadium.
Former Leeds defender Dorigo was delighted with Klich’s perseverance despite perhaps lacking in confidence and form, as the ex-Wolfsburg midfielder scored twice for the Whites in a crucial win.
“The style he plays means he doesn’t get hugely involved in the game,” Dorigo said. “He wants to run from deep, arrive at the right time and score. When he’s scoring goals, you think he’s playing well.
“The style that he is, he has to score that odd goal from midfield to remain in form. I like him because he hasn’t lost his confidence, he’s kept making those runs, two runs he’s got in the box and finished both – which is fantastic.”

A constant change of attacking midfield partners could have disrupted Klich, with the likes of Samu Saiz, Adam Forshaw, Pablo Hernandez and Tyler Roberts all playing alongside him in the middle of the park.
Leeds’ triumph over Rotherham sees the Whites go three points clear of Norwich City and six points ahead of Sheffield United who sit in third place. The Whites take on Norwich on Saturday at Elland Road.
