Tony Daley has showered praise on Wolverhampton Wanderers duo Diogo Jota and Helder Costa.
Tony Daley spent most of his playing career at Aston Villa, but played for clubs like Wolves, Watford and Walsall before hanging up his boots in 2002.
He took fitness coaching as his profession upon finishing his career and worked ten years at Wolves before leaving the post in May 2017.
Wolves have made a brilliant start to their 2017-18 campaign under Nuno Espirito Santo, and find themselves top of the Championship table after 16 games.
Daley feels that Wolves have brought in a lot of foreign players, and some of them are very good. However, he says that things could have gone either way, and Wolves could have struggled like Sunderland.
Daley has showered praise on two Wolves players – Jota and Costa.
Diogo Jota joined this summer from Atletico Madrid on loan, and has made an instant impact. Daley says that “he’s as strong as an ox”. The 20-year-old has scored seven goals in the Championship this season.
However, the player who has impressed him the most is Helder Costa. Daley has hailed him as an unbelievable player who is naturally talented and has a great work-rate.
“I like Jota, he’s small and wafer thin, but he’s strong as an ox. He’ll be a good player for them,” said Daley, as quoted by the Sunday Mercury (printed edition; page 62).
“But Helder Costa is an unbelievable player. He’s one of the most talented and gifted players. I’ve seen play. He’s a fantastic guy as well.
“He’s one of the lads, never aloof, he always has a giggle and mucks in. Naturally talented, but also he has the workrate. He runs up and down for the team.
“He’s an outlet. He can travel with the ball and opposing teams hate that.”
