West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has been a man under pressure this season and many supporters want change.
West Ham are 15th in the Premier League table after just two wins from their first eight games.
On paper West Ham have a squad more than capable of challenging for the top eight.
But Bilic is struggling to get the best out of his players and fans are angry with a number of his selection and tactical decisions, chiefly shunting Javier Hernandez out wide and not giving Diafra Sakho enough game time.
Many feel Bilic did not have a plan to fit his team around Chicharito and instead continues to start Andy Carroll up front.
But now legendary Hammers striker Tony Cottee has told Hammers fans’ website Claret & Hugh that Carroll’s costly sending off in the 1-1 draw with Burnley last time out could force Bilic to stumble on a winning strike formula, and that could ultimately save his job.
“I don’t know what he (Bilic) will do but there has to be a chance that Diafra Sakho and Chicharito will be involved in the same team and who knows what may happen,” Cottee told C&H.
“He may look for a different option against Brighton and Diafra has to come into his thinking… and I’d very much like to see Chicharito through the middle with Sakho one side or the other of him.
“That would push us into mid table and then as a Hammers family we need to get behind the team and the manager as we push on.”
Bilic’s preference for one up front and his decision to splash over £45 million on Marko Arnautovic and Andre Ayew in the last two seasons have been major factors in supporters turning against the Croatian.
But should he decide to go with Sakho and Hernandez and the pair hit it off, it could be the dawn of an exciting new partnership which brings goals and wins and effectively keeps the manager in his job for the foreseeable future.
