Everton spent big money on signing Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City.

However, the Icelandic international has not had much of an impact at Everton yet.

Sigurdsson is yet to score in the Premier League, with his performances falling below expectations.
And Cottee feels that Everton would have been far better off buying a striker with that sort of money.
“I can’t understand Gylfi Sigurdsson,” Cottee said. “He’s a good player, but he’s not what they needed. £45 million is a lot of money and they haven’t got a goalscorer.”
A number of Everton supporters have blamed Ronald Koeman for Sigurdsson’s struggles, as the attacking midfielder has been forced to play out of position.

If Koeman is to stay in charge at Goodison Park, he will be relying on Sigurdsson to come good sooner rather than later.
Everton have badly disappointed so far this season, with their latest result being a 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Toffees are currently in 16th place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming in the Europa League on Tuesday night.
