West Ham United have managed to turn things around in recent months, but there is still plenty of work left to do.
Ex-Hammers ace Tony Cottee spoke exclusively to popular sports betting company Sporting Bet, and highlighted a clear problem for his former side.
West Ham seem rejuvenated under the stewardship of David Moyes, and currently occupy 11th position in the Premier League table, after making a worrying start to their campaign.
Moyes admitted recently that he has an imbalanced squad at his disposal at the London Stadium, with too many forward players and not enough midfielders and defenders.
Cottee highlighted the forward area as a problem for West Ham, and more specifically, how the strikers at the club have been utilised.
The 52-year-old, who scored 148 goals over the course of two separate spells with the Hammers, told Sporting Bet how his former club’s use of their attacking players represents a clear problem:
“There’s a clear problem at West Ham with how to utilise their strikers because they’ve had Sakho, Ayew, Carroll and Chicharito sitting on the bench while Antonio or Arnautovic are up front instead. Moyes will continue to try find his best forwards but I think we will see at least a couple of those names leave the club this summer.”
The form of Arnautovic has made it hard for Moyes to include the likes of Andy Carroll and Chicarito more regularly.
The 28-year-old has been so good, in fact, that West Ham fans haven’t even missed some of their star players.
And with the January transfer window now open for business, it would be no surprise to see some of the Hammers attackers leave the London Stadium this month.
