Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers are weak, suggests former Celtic striker Tony Cascarino.
Former Celtic striker Tony Cascarino has suggested in The Times that Rangers have a weak squad.
The former Republic of Ireland international has pointed at the presence of two players in the Gers’ squad to prove his point – Kenny Miller and Josh Windass.
Miller is 37 years of age and is in his third spell at Ibrox at the moment, having also spent time at Old Firm rivals Celtic.
Midfielder Windass, 23, officially joined Rangers in the summer of 2016 after leaving Accrington Stanley, as did Matt Crooks, who left the Glasgow giants on a permanent contract in the summer of 2017 for Northampton Town.
Former Celtic striker Cascarino has suggested that Rangers squad is weak, and has used that as a point to claim that Celtic’s achievement of going 63 games unbeaten in Scotland is not as great as it is being made out to be.
Cascarino wrote in The Times: “Look at Rangers’ squad recently: they had two players from Accrington Stanley. Rangers are so weak it has enabled Celtic to do what they have done.”
“When I look at the squads and I see the names, Kenny Miller playing at 53 or whatever he is, I see players who are playing League Two, League One football who go to Scotland to continue their career,” added Cascarino.
“People like Steven Whittaker at Hibernian. Anthony Stokes went to Hibs, he was left out at Blackburn. Look at Josh Windass, a promising young player but he went from Accrington to Rangers.
“I could give you a load of players. Scotland’s player of the year last season was Scott Sinclair — Aston Villa let him go.”
Rangers are fourth in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 24 points from 12 matches, six points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic.
