Reports this week suggest Walker wants out of Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham’s Kyle Walker
Talksport pundit Tony Cascarino believes Tottenham Hotspur should sell Kyle Walker if the defender can’t get excited about the direction in which the club is heading.
Walker has been dropped from Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs 11 in recent weeks, while the Independent reported on Monday that Walker wants to leave White Hart Lane over a long-running dispute with the Argentine regarding his fitness as well as selection.
The report also claimed that money is a factor in Walker’s exit plan, with the player said to be aware that he could earn more money at Manchester United or City, who have both been linked with moves ahead of the summer transfer window.
But according to Cascarino, Tottenham’s direction should be enough to persuade any of their players to stay.
“He’s been dropped but you do know if you’re the number one choice at a football club,” the former Chelsea striker told Talksport on Tuesday morning. “If he can’t get excited about where he is and the feeling of excitement about how good this Tottenham team can be then he should leave.

“For me I’d be looking and thinking, I could be part of something special at this football club.
“Tottenham would pay the going rate. They do it in a different way, it might not be the huge 100-grand a week, but it might be done with a signing-on fee, potential bonuses and winning things – all the achievements.
“I think he should be excited about staying more so, unless he really believes that (Kieran) Trippier’s going to be the number one and he might have to go.”

The Independent reported that Spurs could recoup up to £50 million for Walker, who signed a new five-year deal at the club last summer.
And given Trippier’s recent performances, Cascarino believes the Londoners should not be afraid to cash in on the England international.
“If I thought I could get £50 million to sell Walker and keep Trippier and I know he’s good enough I’d do it,” he added. “I think I’ll invest that £50 million somewhere else because I don’t think there’s a great gulf between the two full-backs.”
