Aston Villa are struggling in the Championship this season.
Aston Villa are one of the biggest clubs of England, but they are struggling at the moment. Villa got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign and are unlikely to end up in the top six of the Championship this season.
The Villa Park faithful are frustrated with the situation, and one can understand why. Steve Bruce made a strong start to his managerial tenure at Villa when he was appointed in October, but results in recent weeks have been disappointing.
Villa are 17th in the Championship table at the moment with 36 points from 32 matches. The Villans are just six points above the relegation zone and are in danger of going down to League One at the end of the season.
Former Villa striker Cascarino has suggested two ways in which the club can have a bright future and has given some advice to manager Bruce.
“If I were Bruce, I would go to the chairman and suggest taking a leaf out of Huddersfield Town’s book and reducing ticket prices to try to get home attendances back up to 35-40,000,” Cascarino wrote in The Times.
“Villa Park can be an amazing place to play, and there’s nothing better to lift players than having a full stadium.
“The fans are disillusioned and they need to be enticed back. Combine that with better choices in the transfer market and this great club might start to find its feet again.”
The Villa hierarchy needs to get the fans on side and have to understand their frustrations. After all, the supporters could make a massive difference to the morale of the team.
