Tony Cascarino suggested on the Weekend Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT this past Sunday morning (09:43am, March 10, 2019) that Tottenham Hotspur should try to sign Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.

While discussing Tottenham’s need to sign experienced and established footballer if they want to win major titles and trophies, the former Chelsea striker suggested a move for the North London outfit for 26-year-old Italy international midfielder Verratti.

Cascarino said on the Weekend Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT this past Sunday morning (09:43am, March 10, 2019): “I would want to know what’s happening with Verratti at PSG because I think he is a proven winner in his career. I think he is a fabulous player.”

Verratti is one of the best midfielders on the planet, and there is no doubt that the 26-year-old is a world-class player.

The former Pescara star has been on the books of PSG and has won the League 1 title five times.

However, it is hard to see the Italian leave PSG and join Tottenham in the summer transfer window, especially if the North London outfit fail to finish in the top four.

Moreover, PSG are unlikely to sell such an important player in their squad.

Bouncing back

Meanwhile, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes that Tottenham will eventually kick back into gear.

Spurs lost 2-1 to Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League this past weekend, and are now in danger of dropping out of the top four.

Carragher told Sky Sports: “I still think Spurs are the best team of those sides – maybe it’s a toss-up with Manchester United so you think they’ll kick back into gear.”
