Everton are really struggling at the moment and pressure is mounting on manager Ronald Koeman. After seven games in the Premier League, Everton find themselves 16th in the league table, with just seven points on board.

The Toffees have won just one out of their last six Premier League games, and suffered defeat in four of them.

Former Chelsea player and now a popular football pundit, Tony Cascarino says that Everton are in a mess at the moment, and blames the players for it.

It is a crisis situation at the club, and in times like these senior players have to take charge.

Cascarino notes that the club’s older heads like Leighton Baines, Wayne Rooney and Ashley Williams are struggling to exert their influence.

Likewise, new summer signings like Davy Klaassen and Gylfi Sigurdsson haven’t quite settled in yet. As a result, Everton are relying on young players like Tom Davies and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Cascarino suggests that the senior players at the club will have to take the responsibility and take the club out of the current mess.

“In times of crisis you need your experienced players to take a lead and take control,” said Cascarino to The Times. “But Everton’s older heads such as Leighton Baines, Ashley Williams and even Wayne Rooney are really struggling with their form and influence.

“Add to that that the new signings like Davy Klaassen and Gylfi Sigurdsson haven’t settled and all of a sudden they are relying on kids like Tom Davies and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

“If he’s going to get out of this mess Ronald Koeman will need the senior men to raise their game.”
