Can Everton copy Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur?
Former Celtic and Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has suggested in The Times how Everton can copy Tottenham Hotspur.
Everton are a massive club, but they have been outshone by city rivals Liverpool.
The Toffees are an established Premier League team, but they have yet to break into the top four and play Champions League football regularly.
Tottenham appear to be doing just that at the moment. Under manager Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs finished third in the Premier League last season and could end up in the Champions League places this campaign as well.
Former Aston Villa and Millwall striker Cascarino has suggested how Everton can copy Tottenham.
“I often think of Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in the same bracket, both of them having been outshone by city rivals,” Cascarino told The Times.
“Spurs have joined the elite after closing that gap, and Everton can copy them, but only with a well-thought-out, long-term plan, ideally with Koeman at the helm.”
Everton are seventh in the Premier League table at the moment with 41 points from 25 matches.
The Toffees are seven points behind sixth-placed Manchester United and could end up seventh this season.
Ronald Koeman’s side will return to action on February 25 when they take on Sunderland at Goodison Park in the Premier League.
Everton will take on Tottenham away from home at White Hart Lane in North London in the Premier League on March 5.
