With Aston Villa failing to get promoted to the Premier League, there is no surprise that Jack Grealish has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Leicester City.

According to The Express, Tottenham and West Ham are interested in signing Grealish from Championship club Villa in the summer transfer window.

Leicester are considering a bid for the 22-year-old attacker, according to Sky Sports.

Jack Grealish of Aston Villa looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Fulham and Aston Villa at Craven Cottage on April 17, 2017 in London, England.

Villa, though, according to The Daily Star, want as much as £40 million for Grealish, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder.

Former Villa striker Tony Cascarino does not believe that any club will pay the Villans £40m for Grealish.

Cascarino said about Grealish’s price-tag on the Weekend Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Saturday morning (08:28am, June 2, 2018): “If he left, he wouldn’t go nowhere near that. He wouldn’t be nowhere near.”

Good strategy?

Grealish is a very good and promising young player who has experience of playing in the Premier League, but the 22-year-old is not worth £40m.

However, Villa (reportedly) placing a £40m price-tag on him is smart and leaves much room for negotiation.

The Villans probably themselves know that no club is going to pay £40m for a Championship, but this means that they could negotiate a deal worth £15m-£20m.
