Tottenham Hotspur suffered a damaging defeat at Southampton over the weekend.

LONDON, UK, UNITED KINGDOM - 2019

talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino has claimed that the opposition are going to feel ‘privileged’ to play in Tottenham’s new stadium and claimed that the home team will not have an advantage when they eventually move in.

Sky Sports report that the London club will play either Crystal Palace or Brighton at the start of April in their new 62,000 stadia after suffering numerous delays moving into their new surroundings.

England’s national stadium, Wembley has been Tottenham’s home in recent seasons, but that is now seemingly set to come to an end as they aim to progress further in the Champions League and secure their place in the top-four before the season draws to a close.

Speaking to Weekend Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (09/03/2019 at 9:30 am), Cascarino shared his thoughts on Tottenham’s new stadium but warned that they may not get that extra spark they will be looking for.

“I can’t see any reason why there would be an advantage for either side,” Cascarino told Weekend Sports Breakfast. “When they [the oppositon] go there they are going to be privileged to play in this fantastic stadium.

“So, I don’t really see any advantage either way. It depends how you look at it, half empty glass or half full – I don’t see the ground being an issue, either way.”

Over the weekend, Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered a damaging defeat at relegation-threatened Southampton despite striker Harry Kane giving them a first-half lead.

In recent weeks, Spurs have dropped points at home to Arsenal and lost their previous three away matches, including at top-four chasers Chelsea.

There is no doubt that Tottenham will be looking over their shoulders as their place in the Champions League places is now coming under threat despite previously setting comfortably in third place.

But, on the other hand, they are also in the last eight of the Champions League as they will be hoping their new stadium can give them that push and help them progress into the last four.
