Son Heung-min scored twice for Tottenham Hotspur against Stoke City in the Premier League at the weekend.
Former Celtic and Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has suggested in The Times that Son Heung-min is a luxury player for Tottenham Hotspur.
Cascarino, though, believes that the South Korea international winger could be a vital player for Tottenham this season.
The former Republic of Ireland international striker has also stated that he was impressed with Son’s performance at the weekend.
The 24-year-old scored twice for Tottenham against Stoke City in a comfortable 4-0 win at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Son found the net first in the 41st minute and then in the 56th minute of the Premier League counter.
“I was impressed by Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung Min,” Cascarino wrote in The Times. “He replaced Erik Lamela in the starting line-up and took his chance with two goals and an assist.”
“Son could be seen as somewhat of a luxury player if he’s not scoring goals — he falls into that category of players who can play anywhere behind a central striker,” added Cascarino.
“He won’t start ahead of Christian Eriksen but with the addition of Champions League football, he could be vital. After his display on Saturday, Son deserves to start Spurs’s next game.”
Son is a very good footballer with notable skills and movement, and he will be an important player for Tottenham this season.
The South Korea international winger did not have a great 2015-16 campaign for Tottenham, but his talent and quality is undeniable.
With Tottenham involved in the Champions League this campaign, the former Hamburger SV and Bayer Leverkusen star is going to get a considerable amount of playing time as the season progresses.
