Tony Cascarino suggests that Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam is a better player than Celtic star Scott Brown.

Former Chelsea and Aston Villa striker Tony Cascarino suggested on the Weekend Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Saturday morning (broadcast from 7am, November 12, 2016) that Stoke City’s Charlie Adam is a better player than Celtic midfielder Scott Brown.

Cascarino made the comments while discussing Brown’s decision to come out of retirement to play for Scotland against England at the Wembley Stadium in London last Friday.

Stoke midfielder Adam was not part of Gordon Strachan’s squad for the game against the Three Lions, and the 30-year-old criticised the decision, as reported by The Guardian.

The former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder also criticised Brown’s decision to come out of retirement.

Celtic's Scott Brown looks dejected

Former Celtic striker Cascarino has suggested that Adam is a better midfielder than Brown.

“Scott’s not that good,” said Cascarino on the Weekend Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Saturday morning (broadcast from 7am, November 12, 2016).

“He is okay. He is a player that Scotland certainly need within the squad, I don’t see much more than that. Charlie, for me, you would probably argue and say Charlie has got more in his locker.”

While Adam is a very good player and has proved himself in the Premier League, Brown’s quality should not be undermined.

The 31-year-old is one of the best midfielders in the Scottish Premiership and is a key player in the current Celtic team.

The fact that Brown has played many more matches than Adam has for Scotland suggests how highly he has been rated by the national team managers over the years.
