Tony Cascarino has showered praise on Liverpool winger Sadio Mane.

Liverpool’s approach to the 2017/18 Premier League campaign has been disrupted to a major extent with Philippe Coutinho’s future still hanging in balance.

The Reds have made it clear that the player is not for sale, and have rejected two bids from Barcelona already.

However, the matter has been complicated with Coutinho handing in a transfer request, thus weakening Liverpool’s position.

The Brazilian has been central to Jurgen Klopp’s attacking system, and his departure would be a massive blow to Liverpool’s title aspirations.

Popular football pundit, Tony Cascarino says that Sadio Mane can step up as the club’s talisman if Coutinho leaves the club this summer.

He says that losing Coutinho will be a “huge loss” for the Reds, but the Reds have a player in Mane who is as talented as him.

Mane joined Liverpool last summer from Southampton for a transfer fee around £34 million, as reported by BBC. He took no time in settling in at Anfield, and scored 13 Premier League goals last season in 27 appearances.

The Senegal international scored against Watford in Liverpool’s opening Premier League clash on Saturday.

“Losing Philippe Coutinho would be a huge loss for Liverpool but in Sadio Mané I think they have a player just as talented. Mané’s goal was one that few players could score. He is unplayable at times and can be their talisman if Coutinho leaves,” wrote Cascarino for The Times.
