Tottenham Hotspur won against Real Madrid at Wembley in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Cascarino was impressed with the performance of Vertonghen for Tottenham in their Champions League game against Real Madrid at the Wembley Stadium in London on Wednesday evening.
The 30-year-old central defender started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Spurs won 3-1 against the defending European champions.

While giving Vertonghen 9 out of 10, Cascarino wrote in The Times: “He was immense, winning everything, with block after block. Proved that he is a reliable player wherever he operates.”

Vertonghen is one of the best central defenders in the Premier League, and the Belgian’s performance against Madrid suggests that he will remain on top of his game for a few more years.
The former Ajax star has established himself as a key figure at Tottenham over the years and is a leader at the back.
The win against Madrid on Wednesday evening means that Spurs have booked their place in the last-16 stage of the Champions League this season.
Tottenham are also aiming to win the Premier League title this season.
