Tony Cascarino is a big fan of Chris Wood, who netted a brace for Burnley at the weekend.
Without Chris Wood’s goals, Leeds United have struggled this season.
The Whites finished seventh after a collapse in the final weeks a year ago, just missing out on the play-offs.
This year Leeds are out of the play-off race already with two months to go.
Leeds received £15 million from Burnley for Wood in August, and pundit Tony Cascarino believes the Whites may have sold too cheaply.
Cascarino was reacting to his brace in the Premier League against West Ham at the weekend.
He told The Times: “Wood was fantastic at Leeds and I was surprised other Premier League clubs didn’t rival Burnley last summer when they signed him for £15 million. He has power, pace and is a composed finisher — he could be a bargain.”
Wood scored 27 goals for Leeds last season. Their top scorer this campaign is Kemar Roofe with 12.
The New Zealand international has missed several weeks with injury since signing for Burnley but he looks at home in the Premier League.
He is still their top scorer with eight goals, netting every 150 minutes. £15 million could well be a bargain as Cascarino suggests.
Leeds’ deal looks even worse considering the money has been paid by Burnley in installments.
Leeds Live reported last month the £15 million is being spread out over three years, although the transfer fee could rise to £18 million if certain performance related bonuses are triggered.
