Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both failed to pick up wins in the Champions League this week.

Writing in the Times, Tony Cascarino has blasted both Arsenal and Tottenham, saying they were both left embarrassed by their Ligue 1 opponents in the Champions League.
Tottenham were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday after a 2-1 loss to Monaco at Stade Louis II.
Arsenal’s fortunes were not as bad as they drew 2-2 with Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates on Wednesday evening.
That result saw them miss the chance to top their group and as a result now face the prospect of drawing one of the ‘big’ teams in the last sixteen of the competition.
It was a chastening week for both and Cascarino says Ligue 1 ended up embarrassing the Premier League.
“This was another reality check for the Premier League,” he told the Times.
“The French league has embarrassed our league in the past two nights, given that Tottenham were outclassed by Monaco.”
“We compare ourselves to the Spanish and German leagues but we have yet to exert any superiority over the French.”

It will be interesting to see how Arsenal fare in the latter stages of the competition after this result.
They have failed to get past the last sixteen of the competition for the last six years and with another tough draw expected this year, it is hard to see them ending that record.
Instead, it appears that the Premier League’s hopes must rest on Pep Guardiola and Manchester City who have been solid if uninspiring in the competition so far.
