Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen could now potentially be staying at the club following speculation about his future.

Tony Cascarino has suggested that reality may have hit Christian Eriksen, who has perhaps realised that he cannot make the desired move he wants away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The Daily Mail have claimed that playmaker Eriksen has been offered a new contract at the London club after he previously stated that he wanted a new challenge amid links with Real Madrid.

Those comments by Eriksen were made after their Champions League final defeat to Liverpool at the start of June, as he could now potentially stay at the club.

Speaking to Weekend Sports Breakfast on TalkSport (20/07/2019 at 8:45 am), Cascarino believes Eriksen’s lack of options away from the club may now result in him staying at the club.

“I don’t know if the story is more about that there hasn’t been the desired move to clubs that maybe Christian thought he could go to,” Cascarino told TalkSport. “That hasn’t happened.

“Tottenham are an exciting club to be around. Champions League finalists. They have got a lot good players there. They have just broken their club-record fee. New stadium. Maybe he thought the grass isn’t greener elsewhere and I’d like to be part of Tottenham for the next two, three or four years.”

At this moment in time, Eriksen has one-year left on his current deal at the club. If he does put pen-to-paper on a new deal then it would be a huge boost for the supporters.

Things are positive for the Spurs supporters because they are in their new stadium and they are beginning to add more legs to their squad.

Keeping those who are already at the club could perhaps be most important because they have helped the club improve dramatically over the years.
