Watford forward Richarlison was a relatively unknown figure when he joined the Premier League from the Brazilian Serie A side Fluminense for a reported fee of £13 million.
However, he quickly caught the attention with a string of eye-catching performances. And he is now one of the most coveted young players in the Premier League.
The 20-year-old scored against West Ham on Sunday, and took his goal tally to five in the Premier League already.
Former Chelsea player turned football pundit Tony Cascarino is impressed with Richarlison’s display against the Hammers, and labels his performance as “outstanding”.
Cascarino says that he has bullied the opposition defenders and his direct running has caused problems. He also adds that it won’t surprise him if big clubs lure him away from Vicarage Road very quickly.
“Richarlison is undoubtedly the surprise package of the season,” wrote Cascarino for The Times.
“He was unknown when he moved from Fluminense in the summer but he has grabbed the headlines, and I’m sure the attention of bigger clubs, with his performances so far.
“Against West Ham United the 20-year-old was outstanding, bullying their defenders. He shrugged them off with ease and his direct running caused problems. It would not surprise me if he moved on to a bigger club quite quickly but he is fortunate to have fallen into a side who have such an adventurous head coach in Marco Silva.”
His impressive form hasn’t gone unnoticed with Tottenham Hotspur eyeing a move for the Brazilian in the January transfer window.
