Jurgen Klopp won his first trophy with Liverpool on Saturday evening in Madrid.
Tony Cascarino has stated that his ‘biggest fear’ regarding Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is that one day he will feel that he is no longer the man for the job.
The German wrote his name into the history books on Saturday evening when he guided the English giants to Champions League glory in Madrid.
It was the sixth European crown in Liverpool’s history and the first trophy Klopp has won with the Merseyside club since he replaced Brendan Rodgers as manager in 2015.
Speaking to Weekend Sports Breakfast on TalkSport (01/06/201 at 8:40 am), former Republic of Ireland international, Cascarino shared his fears about Klopp.
“You know my biggest fear as a fan of the club?,” Cascarino told TalkSport. “What he did at Dortmund at one particular time, he decided he wasn’t the man for the job and he left Dortmund.
“His actual words were, he felt he wasn’t the right man for the job anymore and there would be someone better placed than him. My biggest fear is one day that’ll happen at Liverpool.
“He’ll go. It won’t be down to a lack of success. It will just [happen] where he will feel if someone else could do it better he’d walk away. That would be my biggest fear.”
After their Champions League glory against Tottenham, Klopp will now focus his attention to the prize the Anfield supporters want the most – the Premier League trophy.
It has been nearly three decades since the Reds were crowned English champions as the 97 points they recorded this term, staggeringly, wasn’t enough.
But given their success in Madrid, Klopp will no doubt use that as motivation for his team to push on and produce the goods in the Premier League again next term.
