Liverpool have made an exhilarating start to the new season.

Tony Cascarino has told The Irish Sun that, in his opinion, Liverpool are amongst the five best footballing sides across Europe, but also suggested that he has one concern about Jurgen Klopp’s men.

The Reds have made a blistering start to the season. They currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, but a win over Manchester United on Monday night would move them level with Manchester City and Arsenal at the table’s summit.

And after watching the Merseyside club put together a five-match winning run in all competitions – while also previously claiming a 4-3 victory over Arsenal on the opening day – Cascarino has made a big claim about their quality.

“Earlier in the season, I saw some of the best football I’ve ever seen at the Emirates. But it wasn’t from Arsenal, it was from Liverpool who beat the Gunners 4-3,” he told The Irish Sun.

“When they played Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino’s side fell into the trap of trying to take them on in a passing game.

“They got a draw but it was a miracle because Liverpool, along with City, are one of the best four or five footballing sides in Europe.”

Given Cascarino’s statement, it is perhaps a surprise that Liverpool are not at the top of the table currently. But the former Republic of Ireland international has suggested the one concern that he has about the current squad.

“The only question mark I would have over Liverpool is their goalkeeper Loris Karius, but he’s only in the door and has just played three games so he could get better in time,” he added.

Having suffered just one defeat all season, and having taken points off of all of the sides expected to be amongst those challenging for the title this term, it appears that Klopp’s men are well on course to put themselves in the race.

And if they can complement the style that Cascarino is in awe of with a steel at the back, then it seems difficult to imagine that many teams will be able to prevent Liverpool being in the mix right until the season starts to reach its conclusion.
