West Ham United will be hoping their new summer signing Sebastien Haller can fix a long-term problem for them ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Tony Cascarino has spoken in awe of West Ham United’s ‘incredibly good’ new signing Sebastien Haller, who joined from German side Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 25-year-old powerful forward will fill an important role for the Hammers ahead of the new Premier League campaign, with Manuel Pellegrini losing a number of players up top this summer.
It is fair to say that the striker role has been a bit of a problem area for West Ham in recent years and a lot will be expected of Haller.
Speaking to Weekend Sports Breakfast on TalkSport (20/07/2019 at 8:40 am), Cascarino backed Haller to succeed at the London Stadium.
“I know Sebastien through watching him a couple of times in Germany,” Cascarino told TalkSport. “Obviously, they have made some big deals this summer. Jovic, his striking partner at Frankfurt left for Madrid, between them they scored lots of goals.
“I think Haller is a fantastic addition to West Ham. Leads the line brilliantly. 6ft 3. Great hold up play. Makes goals and scores goals. Incredibly good in the air. You have lost Andy Carroll. But Haller has got a fantastic jump and a powerful header of the ball.
“I think it’ll be a big plus for West Ham United, so I am definitely going for a hit.”
The Hammers secured a top-10 finish last season and improving on that finish will be top of their agenda ahead of the new campaign.
A strong cup run, with a potential top-seven finish in the Premier League, would be ideal for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, as Haller will play a big part if that were to happen.
If the Frenchman, who is going to earn £70k-a-week at the club [Daily Star], can put the ball into the back of the net on a regular basis then it’ll make the Irons a very dangerous outfit.
