Sam Byram played for West Ham United against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Friday evening.
Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has suggested in The Times that he was impressed with the performance of Sam Byram for West Ham United against Tottenham Hotspur.
Byram featured for West Ham in the Premier League game against Tottenham at the London Stadium on Friday evening.
The 23-year-old, who can operate as a right-back or as a right-winger, started the London derby and played for the entire 90 minutes.
Cascarino was following the match, and he was impressed with the performance of Byram, who joined West Ham from Championship outfit Leeds United in January 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Independent to be worth £3.7 million.
“Sam Byram struggled a lot after arriving from Leeds United just over a year ago and was definitely not doing enough to be West Ham’s first-choice right back, but he is starting to settle in,” Cascarino wrote in The Times. “Last night at the London Stadium he was much more composed, looking like a Premier League-standard player.”
Byram is a very good right-back, as he showed during his time at Leeds, and he can be a success at West Ham.
The Englishman’s time at the Hammers has been affected by injuries, but as he demonstrated against Tottenham, when fully fit and on form, Byram is superb.
Given that Byram is only 23 years of age, there is a very good possibility that the former Leeds star could establish himself in the West Ham team for years to come.
