James Chester joined Aston Villa from West Bromwich Albion in the summer transfer window.
Former Aston Villa and Celtic striker Tony Cascarino has suggested in The Times that West Bromwich Albion should have sold James Chester for more than what they got for him.
Chester left Premier League club West Brom for Championship outfit Villa in the summer transfer window.
According to The Daily Mail, the Villans had to pay the Baggies a transfer fee of £9 million in order to secure the services of the Wales international defender.
Former Chelsea striker Cascarino has criticised West Brom’s decision to sell the 27-year-old centre-back for that price.
“Pulis rarely brings through youth players at his clubs, so one avenue for earning revenue in the transfer market is cut off,” Cascarino wrote in The Times. “Furthermore, he hasn’t been able to make a profit on players who he has signed from elsewhere.
“James Chester was acquired by Pulis from Hull City for £8 million and the centre back couldn’t have had a better European Championship this summer with Wales. Yet last month he was sold to Aston Villa for the same fee.”
Chester was part of the Wales squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2016 European Championship in France in the summer.
The former Manchester United prospect was an important player for the Dragons at the Euro 2016 finals, playing in six matches.
The defender has played seven Championship games for the Villans so far this season.
During the 2015-16 campaign, Chester was able to play in only 13 Premier League matches for West Brom.
The Baggies are 10th in the Premier League table at the moment with seven points from five matches.
