Tony Cascarino has told The Times he is not impressed with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

He feels Pickford has not been the same goalkeeper since the World Cup and he has become too error prone.

While insisting his performance against Watford at the weekend was not terrible, Cascarino feels overall that Pickford has been disappointing.

He said: “Many England goalkeepers over the years seem to lose an edge once they get settled as England No 1, such as David James and Joe Hart.

“Yes, Pickford is playing behind a poor defence but he just feels a bit like a court-jester goalkeeper — he’s a bit erratic and scattergun. Goalkeepers want to be known for being reliable, not error-prone.”

Playing behind Everton’s defence is a bigger problem than Cascarino credits it.

The Toffees have conceded more goals from set pieces this season than any team, with fundamental flaws in Marco Silva’s defensive set up.

Everton lost 1-0 to Watford at the weekend, with Kurt Zouma sent off for the Toffees.

The team currently sit in ninth place in the Premier League table.
