Tony Cascarino has compared Tanguy Ndombele to Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko and criticised Tottenham’s transfer incomings this summer.
The former striker told talkSPORT (06/09/20 at 8:55 am) that he ‘doesn’t really see too much there’ when looking at Jose Mourinho’s transfer incomings.
Tottenham have signed goalkeeper Joe Hart on a free-transfer, snapped up Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton and also added Matt Doherty to their defensive ranks.
Cascarino shared his thoughts on Tottenham’s summer transfer window so far and questioned the likes of Ndombele, Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura.
“Spurs, I don’t really see too much in there,” Cascarino told talkSPORT. “I don’t see signings where I thought ‘yeh, that’s a good signing for Spurs’. I think [Doherty’s] not bad. He can do a really good job in different systems.
“But I don’t see major signings there. Bergwijn came to the club in January and I thought he looked lively when he first got there, but by the end of the season, he was in and out of the season slightly. Lucas Moura is sort of found in that position far too often.
“It’s a bit of a strange one. Ndombele just the signing, it’s a bit like Bakayoko, who signed for Chelsea, it just hasn’t worked so far.”

Ndombele was Tottenham’s record-transfer last summer, and just like Bakayoko did for Chelsea in 2017, he arrived for big-money.
For Bakayoko, who also moved from France’s top division to England top-flight, he struggled the moment he joined Chelsea.
The pace of the game was too much for the midfielder, he would be dispossessed too easily and would be very loose with his passing, and was soon being targeted by the opposition – but it seems Chelsea will sell their players to AC Milan after he spent a number of seasons out on-loan [talkSPORT].
Whilst Ndombele’s problems haven’t been with the ball, rather what he does without it, he too has had a very shaky time of it and was even called out by Mourinho in March when Spurs drew against Burnley.
