Wesley Moraes has joined Aston Villa from Club Brugge.
As announced on Villa’s official website, the Villans have secured the services of Wesley from Belgian outfit Club Brugge.
Sky Sports have reported that Dean Smith’s side – who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship via the playoffs – will pay Club Brugge an initial transfer fee of £22 million for the 22-year-old forward.
Former Villa striker Cascarino believes that the 22-year-old Brazilian forward will struggle at Villa Park next campaign.
Another former Villa striker Darren Bent has also given his take on the transfer, and he is pleased that Dean Smith’s side have signed a striker following the return of Tammy Abraham to his parent club Chelsea after a loan spell at Villa Park.
Cascarino said about Wesley on talkSPORT (9:55am, June 15, 2019): “I think it’s going to be a really tough season for him. Hope I am wrong. I know how difficult it can be going to a club the size of Villa. I think it will a struggle for him.”
Bent said about Wesley on talkSPORT (4:08pm, June 14, 2019): “They have gone out straightaway and bought someone to replace him (Tammy Abraham). Well played to Aston Villa.”
Patience needed
Wesley has arrived at Villa with a strong reputation, and given that he is only 22 years of age, it is clear that he has been signed for the long term.
It is going to be tough for the youngster in his first team in the Premier League, and Wesley needs to be afforded patience and has to be backed during times when he struggles.
