Tony Cascarino comments on Leeds United

Leeds United are challenging for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Former Aston Villa striker Tony Cascarino suggested on the Weekend Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Saturday morning (7:28am, April 20, 2019) that Leeds United could struggle to win promotion from the Championship via the playoffs.

Leeds are aiming to clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are third in the league table at the moment with 82 points from 43 matches, level on points with second-placed and Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.

Although the Whites are very much in the running for automatic promotion, there is a chance that the West Yorkshire outfit could end up in the playoffs and may have to get back to the Premier League the hard way.

Cascarino has not been too impressed with Leeds in recent weeks, and believes that the Whites could struggle in the playoffs, with Villa also set to feature in the playoffs.

Leeds and Villa could face each other in the Championship playoffs this season.

Cascarino said about Leeds on the Weekend Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Saturday morning (7:28am, April 20, 2019): “I am not sure about Leeds. They have been tremendous in the early part of the season.

“You go back to the last two months. Leeds United’s biggest advantage is their fan base. They are there for the taking.”
