Tony Cascarino explains Gylfi Sigurdsson’s penalty shooting technique.
Popular football pundit Tony Cascarino explained why Saido Berahino missed his penalty against Southampton on Saturday in the Premier League.
Cascarino notes that when a player is low on confidence, similar case with Berahino, he invites more pressure on himself while taking a spot kick. And in most cases, they do not hit the target.
The former Chelsea player observed that Berahino was “lacking belief” and that is why he took a “weak penalty” against the Saints.
On that context, Cascarino has analysed some of the best penalty takers in the Premier League, and obviously Gylfi Sigurdsson’s name popped up.
Sigurdsson joined Everton in the summer transfer window for a club-record transfer fee of £45 million, as reported by BBC.
The Iceland midfielder has a 100 per cent record of converting spot-kicks – six out of six in the past two years. He has scored all his penalties for Swansea, but is yet to take one for Everton.
Cascarino notes that Sigurdsson keeps a “cool head” from the penalty spot.
