Tony Cascarino suggested on the Weekend Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (8:56am, April 28, 2019) that a move to Major League Soccer will not be a bad idea for Ashley Williams, who is on loan at Stoke City from Everton at the moment.

According to The Sun, MLS club DC United are interested in signing Williams in the summer transfer window.

New York City are also claimed to be looking at the 34-year-old former Swansea City centre-back.

The Wales international is out of contract at Everton at the end of the season and will leave the Toffees in the summer of 2019, according to The Sun.

Williams joined Stoke on a season-long loan deal from the Toffees in the summer of 2018, and has made 27 starts and six substitute appearances in the Championship for the Potters, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

The Sun has claimed of interest in Williams from Huddersfield Town – who have been relegated from the Premier League – and Aston Villa, who are aiming to clinch promotion from the Championship via the playoffs.

Former Villa and Chelsea striker Cascarino has suggested that a move to the MLS will be good for Williams – who earns £70,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com.

Cascarino said about the future of Williams on the Weekend Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (8:56am, April 28, 2019): “He is obviously on big money. He was never the quickest.

“He hasn’t recaptured the form, but then, he is in his 30s. That sort of money being paid by Everton, maybe going somewhere to the States is where his next door is going to be.”
