Leeds United are hoping to earn promotion to the top-tier while Liverpool are hoping to be champions of England for the first time in nearly three decades this season.
Tony Cascarino has stated that there is a similarity in the ‘excitement’ and ‘pressure’ at Leeds United and Liverpool this season as both team chase for glory.
The Whites are hoping to earn promotion to the top-tier of English football for the first time in over a decade this season as they are currently sitting in an automatic place in the Championship.
By contrast, the Reds are hoping to end a long-awaited duck of their own and become champions of England for the first time in nearly three decades.
Speaking to the Weekend Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (13/04/2019 at 8:45 am), Cascarino pointed out the similar emotions both clubs are going through, at this moment in time.
“Leeds can still be a little bit more vulnerable than most,” Cascarino told talkSPORT. “I think there is a lot of pressure on Leeds United. They have 35/6 thousand watch them, the excitement at Elland Road is a little bit like Liverpool. You just feel that the pressure is just mounting all the time and they’ve got to be able to handle that.”
It is highly likely that Liverpool could end their title drought and Leeds could end their barren run outside of England’s top-flight this season.
Both teams require that extra push and know full well that the next few weeks could determine their fate because they have a number of big games coming up.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will host Eden Hazard-inspired Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, while Leeds have Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United hot on their heals as they sit second in the Championship.
