Tony Casacarino has claimed that Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has taken his game to ‘another level’ just like Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.

Both Mane and Sterling, along with a plethora of high-quality attacking players, will be vying for that top goalscorers spot at the end of the season.

At this moment in time, Sterling has five strikes to his name, whilst Mane, who netted a brace at the weekend, has found the back of the net on four occasions.

Speaking to Weekend Breakfast on TalkSport (15/09/2019 at 6:55 am). Cascarino praised Liverpool’s front three and compared Mane’s rise to that of Sterling’s.

“Mane took his goal absolutely brilliantly,” Cascarino told TalkSport. “He’s been on absolute fire. A bit like Sterling in the last year, he’s just gone onto another level.

“Salah, he didn’t have his greatest game, but the goal that was made for him by Firmino’s ability to just doing something [special]. When you think the ball is going to go somewhere else, Firmino would change the direction of the ball, everybody in the Liverpool team knows, but the opposition doesn’t. The third goal was an individual piece of magic.”

When Sterling left Anfield for the Etihad Stadium in 2015, not many thought that the £49 million [BBC Sport] which Manchester City paid for his services would turn out to be what it is today.

The England international is arguably Man City’s most important player, and they recently won the domestic treble and will be looking to win their third Premier League title on the bounce this season.

But Liverpool, who will be led by the likes of Mane will have something else to say about that as they currently sit top of the tree in England’s top-flight.
