Aston Villa will be looking to make it ten wins in a row when they take on Millwall on Monday afternoon.
Tony Cacarino has backed Aston Villa to make the playoffs and warned that they will be a ‘handful’ because they have ‘too many’ good players.
Dean Smith’s side have won nine games on the bounce in the Championship and they will be looking to make it ten in a row when they host Millwall on Monday afternoon.
Speaking to Weekend Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (20/04/2019 at 7:30 am), Cascarino briefly stated why Villa are going to be dangerous in the playoffs.
“I think any team against Villa in the playoffs, because I think Villa will make it, they will have too many good players,” Cascarino told talkSPORT. “If they turn up, Villa can be a real handful.”
Villa haven’t wrapped up a top-six finish yet, but they can do so on Monday if they beat relegation-threatened Millwall and other results go their way.
As things stand, Smith’s side will finish fifth in the Championship table and will head into the playoff semi-finals playing Midlands rivals West Brom, who are currently sitting in fourth.
The positive for Villa supporters is that they have a number of key players potentially returning to the matchday squad in these coming weeks.
The likes of Kortney Hause, Tommy Elphick, Alan Hutton and James Chester could all return to help Villa in their quest to get over that Premier League line.
Last season, they lost the playoff final to Fulham and if they can reach Wembley once again then they will want to go one better to rectify that painful day.
