Tottenham Hotspur are currently third in the Premier League, and boosted their title hopes significantly with their most recent victory.

Tony Cascarino has told The Irish Sun that he could see Tottenham Hotspur winning the Premier League title within the next five years, and reserved some extremely high praise for Dele Alli.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have established themselves as contenders in the title race over the last couple of seasons, and have arguably moved themselves back into contention this term after beating runaway leaders Chelsea at White Hart Lane in their most recent outing.

And with a number of key players signing new deals in recent times, Cascarino has suggested that everything is in place for Spurs to come out on top at some point in the coming years.

“Spurs keep announcing that another one of their top talents has agreed a new contract until 2022,” he told The Irish Sun.

“If Tottenham have not won at least one league title during that period, I would be surprised because they have everything going for them.”

One player who has been incredibly influential recently has been Dele Alli. The 20-year-old has scored seven in his last four Premier League games, including three braces.

And it was one of his two goals during the victory over the Blues which stuck in Cascarino’s mind and has led him to compare the former MK Dons man with a player who is considered to be one of the greatest to have ever played the game.

“His progress to date outstrips that of Zinedine Zidane at the same stage of his career,” he added.

“It is a big comparison to make, but the reason I make it is because Alli’s goals against Chelsea reminded me of the 1998 World Cup final.”

Though Alli has surely got a long way to go before he evokes memories of the brilliant Frenchman on a regular basis, he will be hoping that he can inspire Tottenham to glory in the same way that Zidane led his country to triumph at the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.

But Cascarino appears to be confident that he can become that good.
