Tony Cascarino has backed Tottenham Hotspur to beat Bournemouth comfortably when they meet on Saturday and suggested that injuries could be crucial to their chances of lifting the Premier League title, The Irish Sun reports.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men boast the only unbeaten record in the top flight and sit just one point adrift of the table’s summit.

But after a tough game against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League in midweek, a trip to face a side who have taken seven points from a possible nine in their last three games – including a 6-1 victory over Hull City in their most recent clash – is perhaps less than ideal.

Nevertheless, Cascarino has predicted that Spurs will have no problem putting pressure on those above them this weekend, before suggesting what it will take for Tottenham to go on and lift the title this term.

“Spurs go to Bournemouth on Saturday and I expect them to win comfortably,” he told The Irish Sun.

“They have to be contenders for Leicester’s title.

“At the very least, they’re nailed on to finish in the top four and depending on how injuries hit everyone else, they could come out on top.”

With just five points currently separating the top seven in the division, it appears that it will once again be a very open title race that could be decided by one brilliant run of form.

And if Spurs can continue to build momentum by remaining unbeaten, and get some luck along the way when it comes to injuries, as Cascarino suggests, then perhaps it will be they who emerge as the front runners in the title race.
